Oki Ichiga (1796～1855)
Born in Edo, he was adopted into the Oki Family, a painter family in the Tottori Feudal Domain. In 1840, he began to live in Edo, receiving patronage from the shogunate. Although he belonged the Kano School, he incorporated a wide variety of methods from other schools in Japan, thereby creating his own style, which can be described as the Ichiga Style.
A combination of flowers and birds is one the most attractive motifs he used in creating his works. In Seasonal Grasses and Flowers, he expresses his delicate and original taste.
